Tanks are a type of hero in Overwatch 2. These heroes are typically larger and more heavily-armored than other heroes, and are designed to soak up damage and protect their team from enemy attacks.
These are the currently known tanks in Overwatch 2. However, it is worth noting that the game is still in development and the list of heroes may change with of passage of time. Here is the Tier List of Overwatch 2 Tanks.
S-Tier:
Sigma:
Sigma has one of the highest damage outputs in tanks.
With two defensive abilities and a relatively more minor hurt box, sigma rarely feeds ultimate to the enemy team in any rank.
It is one of the most reliable tanks and one of the few characters with a stun ability. It is devastating if used correctly.
Rammatra:
Being the dual-form hero, it's no surprise that Rammatra is extremely versatile and deals damage consistently at any range.
The bonus armor he gets on activating nemesis form is overwhelming if a healer backs him.
Given that it's only on a 8-second cooldown, its very hard to deal with.
D.va:
With changes to her defense matrix in overwatch 2, d.va is more than just the dive tank in the game.
With high armor, damage and good defensive ability.
She can form a frontline for your team or take out enemy healers.
But d.va has to be careful around Beam weapons because the defence matrix doesn't work against them.
A-Tier:
Zarya:
Even after getting a nerf to the particle barrier, Zarya remains one of the strongest tanks.
Primarily the barrier makes Zarya a very hard to kill, but it can be cast on allies to help them win duels or to save healers.
Particle cannon being a beam weapon, ignores abilities like Genji's deflect, d.va's defence matrix and sigma's grasp.
She has the most consistent team-wiping ultimates in the game.
Winston:
Highly agile and good armor makes him hard to kill, especially with a good healer behind him.
He is exceptionally good at taking out enemy snipers and small hitbox/agile heroes such as tracer and Genji.
He is second to d.va in the dive comp team Because he has quite a few heroes that can hard counter him, such as reaper, bastion & Roadhog.
Orisa:
She deals damage consistently and has a stun which is easier to land than sigma's.
She doesnt have the best mobility so she is best played as a frontline for your team and not for diving or flanking.
Orisa's Fortify is the most powerful ability a tank possesses in terms of Survivability and makes her a top contender in tanks.
B-Tier:
Reinhardt:
Deals Devastating damage up close But isn't very threatening from a couple of meters away.
In breakthrough, he is extremely strong, and all he needs is a good charge and a few hammer swings to win a team fight.
But if the enemy team is smart enough to maintain distance from Reinhardt, he can only hurl fireballs.
Roadhog:
Powerful Oneshot potential with hook, headshot and melee combo, with a good player roadhog daunting to play against.
He has great damage output up close, But with a big hurtbox and bad damage mitigation, Roadhog often ends up feeding ultimates to the enemy team.
C-Tier:
Junker Queen:
Receiving some buffs to her shout and passive it seems that she is in a slightly better position than before, But still, she was not nearly as strong as the tanks above her in the tier list.
She lacks any form of damage mitigation and has a smaller health pool. Her shotgun damage is also lacklustre, making it challenging to play her.
Wrecking Ball:
It takes a lot of execution to play the wrecking ball right. And in the right hands, he can be hard to deal with.
But what holds him back is that leaving your team as a tank is generally not a good thing in overwatch 2 as there is only one taco.
His allies will be open to attacks like hooks, sigma's rocks and ultimates. To sum it up, this cute little fuzzball performs well if you learn to play him, but it still doesn't make it easier to win games with.
D - Tier:
Doomfist:
The recent buff slightly improved his Survivability which is essential for his role.
However, he still Does not have a lot of health for a tank, and his damage mitigation ability works only to protect himself and not the team.
But the main issue remains unresolved with the patch.
Which is that Doomfist does not have enough damage compared to other tanks. He performs consistently on a map with environmental kill potential but struggles without that to deal enough damage.
